This weeks question:
Do you read tie-in novels to movies or television series? If so which ones?
My Answer:
I've watched some of the movies for books that I've read. If i watch the movie first I don't normally read the books.

If we're talking about when books are written based off a movie or TV show, (such as the Buffy and Angel books our host mentioned) not really? I mean... does FanFiction count? If it does, I read a TON of Harry Potter FanFic, and I wish there was better X-Men Evolution FanFic, and more Darkest Powers FanFic.
Reading back over this, I sounds like the worlds biggest nerd.
Sorry not sorry!!!
I think FanFic counts though it's not official. I mean that's all published movie or tv tie-ins really are - sanctioned fan fiction.
ReplyDeleteOh good! I'm okay with not being official. Sometimes it's more fun that way!
DeleteThanks for dropping by!
I only read occasional tie-ins, more from a collector's POV. I generally don't find them that well written. Though, of course, there are a few exceptions.
ReplyDeleteI feel like fan fiction could count, IF the characters are written correctly. (Some authors are good at staying true to the character, others go WAY off.) I don't even mean "it all must be canon". Just as long as the characters behave in a way that they might in universe.
ReplyDeleteI actually gave up on fanfic years ago because it's so hard to weed out ALL the bad/mediocre. (There are some good ones out there though.)
I need to read more Harry Potter fanfiction. I haven't gotten into it too much. And I do read a lot of books that movies are based off of, sometimes I read the books first, sometimes after.
